Is Your Pet Covered?
Pet insurance is becoming more and more popular, and with good reason: no one wants to be in that terrible position of having a sick or injured pet but not being able to afford care.
While we don’t recommend one company over another, we can offer a few tips to help you determine what’s best for you and your pet if you’re just starting to look into pet health coverage.
- Decide how much coverage you want. Pet insurance reimbursement rates vary from 60-90% depending on the plan you choose.
- Compare provider quotes
- Consider the provider’s exclusions and waiting periods, including pre-existing condition limitations
- Consider the provider’s reimbursement policies. Many pet insurance companies require that you pay for services in full and then submit a claim for reimbursement.
- Consider your pet’s species and breed. Specific breeds can be more likely to develop certain illnesses or ailments
