Happy Cat Month
Happy Cat Month
While cats are typically known as more of a solitary pet when compared to their canine counterparts, cats still require certain needs to help keep them happy and healthy.
Space to play
Create an area dedicated for your cat to play and exert their energy. Place items such as a cat jungle gym (cat tower), toys and scratching posts in the area.
Give your cat a variety of toys to play and interact with. Popular cat toys include laser pointers, toys with catnip and feather wands.
Quality time with their human
Take 15-20 minutes a day to play with your cat. Not only can this help you bond with them, but it helps give them some exercise, too!
Feed quality food
Ensure your feeding your cat a diet tailored to their needs. Not sure what food is best for them? Give us a call to get a recommendation or ask one of our vets at your next exam.
Cats are masters at hiding illness so it is important for them to have a wellness exam annually. Have a cat over 8 years old? We recommend wellness exams every 6 months to stay on top of your aging pal’s health.
Bringing your cat in for an annual exam is an essential part of having and keeping your cat happy and healthy. Like humans, cats have illnesses such as diabetes, hypo- and hyperthyroidism that aren’t detectable by looking at them. Annual check ups and bloodwork are recommended to monitor your pet’s health. We believe it is better (and more cost effective!) to be proactive about your pet’s health rather than reactive when there is an issue.
